Eight thousand years of wine, tasted with the winemaker present.
Georgia is the oldest wine country in the world, and most visitors have never tasted a drop of it. Wine has been made here for roughly eight thousand years, and still the same way: in qvevri, the large clay vessels buried deep in the ground.
That tradition has been on Unesco's list of intangible cultural heritage since 2013. Teliani Valley brings that history to Utrecht, with the winemaker present in person to tell the story.
Every day of the festival Teliani Valley holds its own tasting, presented by the winemaker in person.
Teliani Valley pours Saperavi and Rkatsiteli, the grapes that give Georgian wine its character: dark, spiced and quite unlike what you are used to.
